A former Costco worker has revealed the real reason why customers have their cards checked every time they enter the store, claiming it actually has nothing to do with ensuring they are verified members.
Majesty, known by his TikTok username @therealyourmajesty, revealed in a now-viral video why Costco employees always check a shopper’s membership card when they enter the bulk supply store.
“I worked here for 15 years as a manager and buyer,” Majesty said. “When you walk through a door, you show your membership card, you’re being counted.”
According to Majesty, Costco workers are interested in tracking the number of people entering the store each day for several reasons, claiming that a large part of card counting has to do with ensuring customer satisfaction.
Majesty, known by his TikTok username @therealyourmajesty, revealed why Costco employees always verify a shopper’s membership.
The TikToker, who worked at retail chain Warehouse Club for 15 years, revealed that Costco employees count the number of shoppers who show them their membership cards.
He explained that the chain’s employees like to keep track of how many people enter the store at any given time so they can make sure the checkouts have enough staff to handle the number of people who may be making purchases.
“They want to know how many clients or members are coming through the door at that time to prepare records and make sure they have the right coverage for you,” he said.
However, Majesty admitted that the process of counting members is also intended to help the store chain track its daily sales, allowing workers to measure how many purchases are made compared to the number of customers coming in. to one place every day.
‘They want to make sure they can measure their sales per day using [the number of] members who have purchased,” he continued.
Majesty’s video is the latest in a series of Costco-themed clips he has posted to his account in recent months, with the former employee revealing in 2022 that the warehouse club retail chain has its own private jet.

Shoppers who wish to obtain a Costco membership must meet specific criteria before doing so.
Costco’s website indicates that its memberships are available to all qualified individuals who are at least 16 years old.
The chain has the right to refuse membership to any person and may also terminate membership at any time without cause.
Buyers must also provide a valid photo ID issued by the federal, state or provincial government of the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada when registering.
The membership fee is for a period of 12 months from the member’s registration date.
It’s important to remember that Costco shoppers must renew their memberships and will not receive new membership cards each year.
Anyone looking to get a membership can choose from Executive, Business, and Gold Star memberships.
Each membership is valid worldwide and includes a free home card.
Although the Executive Membership contains additional benefits of select Costco travel products and the business includes a buy-for-resale option, X (formerly Twitter) users have been requesting the Gold-Star membership since January.

Some X users have admitted to purchasing Costco’s gold membership, while others have spoken negatively about their products.
Unfortunately, some X users have badmouthed some of the products they purchased at Costco and have even written that some of the best items come from Walmart.
“Buy right away because Costco’s gallon spout stinks and we spill milk everywhere,” one X user wrote this morning.
Other X users are debating whether or not they should get a membership, and one person suggested people look into their travel benefits.
“Surely one of you has a Costco membership,” X user Jack Johnson responded to comments made by others.
“Next time use Costco Travel and you’ll get a decent rate from a car rental company that isn’t shoddy.”
