A former flight attendant has revealed the most annoying things passengers do on flights and how you can avoid falling into such behaviour.
Marisa Mackle from Armagh, Northern Ireland, recently shared her experiences with passenger behaviour during her career and pointed out one particularly annoying habit.
Speaking on Newstalk radio show Lunchtime Live, the Confessions of an Air Hostess author said: ‘One of the most annoying things for me was when people blew their nose and handed you a tissue.
‘When you’re walking down the hall picking up trash, sometimes people say, ‘Oh, wait!’ and just blow their nose.’
Marisa recalled one particular incident where a rude customer threw his used tissue onto her plate of food.

She said: ‘I actually remember one time I was coming back from Los Angeles, taking my break, and I had the curtain closed.
‘An American passenger stood behind the curtain and said, ‘Hey, I have something for you,’ and threw the handkerchief onto my plate, into my food, thinking he was doing me a favor.
Another annoying habit of passengers is that of parents trying to entertain their children during the flight.
She said: ‘The other is people who play musical instruments for their children in the middle of the night.
“I had to go down and say, ‘Can you turn that off because there are people sleeping?’ There are other ways to entertain your kids… but don’t bring a musical toy and play it at 3 in the morning. I couldn’t believe it… some people just don’t think about the other passengers.”
She added: ‘The other thing is that they let their kids run up and down the hallway; that really is a safety hazard.
“You have a boiling kettle of tea or coffee in your hand and turbulence can appear without warning.”
Elsewhere, the former cabin crew member explained that she was always puzzled by the fact that some passengers walked barefoot in the cabin.

She added: ‘The bathroom floor is always wet and yet they walk up and down it, especially when you are trying to perform the service.
‘The other thing is that they let their children run up and down the corridor, which is a real safety hazard. If you have a boiling kettle of tea or coffee in your hand, turbulence can occur without warning.’
Meanwhile, Marisa explained that people should not be ashamed to ask for vomit bags if they do not feel well.
She said: ‘The moment you feel sick you should ask for a vomit bag, the crew would rather give you a vomit bag than have them vomit on you.
‘A lady came up to me, I was standing next to the toilet, and she vomited on my legs. I had to take my stockings off and do the whole thing with my legs bare. She said, ‘I’m so sorry, I was too embarrassed to ask for a vomit bag.’
Another recurring problem she faced as a flight attendant was drunk men asking her for a kiss or asking her what hotel she was staying at.
This comes after another cabin crew member revealed that flirting with the crew is never a good idea mid-flight.
Tyra, who posts on TikTok using the username @ruedasupwithtyraShe explained in a video to her followers that asking flight attendants to leave while the plane is in the air only makes them feel ‘uncomfortable’.
She even captioned the post saying: ‘If you see a cute flight attendant and want to start a conversation: please don’t.’
Fortunately, the flight attendant, who has spent six years working at “40,000 feet,” according to her bio, also noted that there is an approved way to “shoot.”
In the clip, which has garnered a whopping 25,000 views since it was posted, Tyra said: ‘Here’s a little basic advice on how not to flirt with a flight attendant.
‘Okay, don’t try to flirt with a flight attendant during the flight… during the flight, whatever. Don’t do it because you’re making him feel uncomfortable.
“And you know what? The flight attendant has to be nice to you. It’s a very awkward situation and we don’t like it.”
Most would agree that this makes sense. After all, you just have to keep in mind that you might not like being propositioned while working either.
Tyra revealed: ‘If you want to take your photo, then your best bet is to simply hand your number to the flight attendant when you get off the plane.
“So you’re not making it awkward and you’re letting the flight attendant decide whether she wants to text you or not.”
