A savvy businessman has come under fire online after revealing he earns $400 a day from a fake restaurant on a popular food delivery app.
The man, who posted anonymously on Reddit, gloated about his success serving expensive microwave meals to unsuspecting diners.
He explained that he registered a business, bought takeout boxes on Amazon, and created some social media accounts for his “restaurant.”
He then signed up for some delivery apps and was soon able to quit his day job.
“I resell microwaveable meals… I add something to some foods to make them look better, like cheese,” he said.
‘Should I feel bad? “I feel a little proud of being fair,” he added.
He added that it is effectively operating legally with all the corresponding insurance and certifications.
You don’t have to work from the industrial kitchen you live in, but a hygiene inspector could come in at any time.
A savvy businessman has come under fire online after revealing he earns $400 a day from a fake restaurant on a popular food delivery app.
“I’ll pass without a problem,” he insisted.
Some were impressed by the man’s genius.
‘There is someone in my area who does this but he doesn’t even cook the food. They are called “snax in the city” and they sell nothing but junk food; chips, soda, cookies, candy and ice cream. “Sounds great if you ask me,” one man said.
‘I love this, you don’t leave the house and just add your own portion when you need dinner. “How little effort!” laughed another.
Other people were not very impressed.
“I think it’s kind of immoral,” one person said.
“This only increases my anxiety in the restaurant,” said another.
A third said: ‘Asshole microwaving your dinner with his hand down his pants while laughing at how clever he is.’ Is this really the guy you want to give money to and also trust in food safety? “Some people here act like this man reinvented the wheel too, which is even sadder.”
Some claimed to recognize the “scam.”
“I think I probably ordered so much shitty food delivery from you,” one man said in disgust.
And others revealed that “it also happens in physical restaurants.”
“I’ve worked in many kitchens where things like lasagna or moussaka are heated by the serving from a frozen slab,” one woman said.
‘I ordered a Cornish pasty in a small restaurant, paid between $7 and $8 for it and a minute later I heard them dialing the numbers into the microwave. “It was very disappointing,” added another.
‘(I) I used to work in a Sainsbury’s cafe, people seemed surprised to find out that the food there is just frozen ready meals, cooked in batches and left in a warm cupboard for as long as needed. “They could have gotten the same thing for a quarter of the price just by buying it on the market,” chimed in a third.
They added that drivers don’t seem to care when they pick up meals at home.
The entrepreneur gave people tips to start their own microwave restaurant service using delivery services.
“Make sure you try everything yourself, find out which brands taste the best and what extra things you can add to your menu,” he said.
‘If you do not own your house or apartment, check the laws on the matter. “I think the owner has to give approval to run a business,” he added.
‘So far only two people have complained and I gave them a refund. They didn’t even say it felt like a frozen meal, they just weren’t that excited about the taste. It’s not difficult to reimburse someone when you have no employees to pay, no rent to pay, and no equipment to buy.’
Other people have revealed their distaste for “fake” restaurants on delivery apps, but criticized restaurants with many different names and listings.
“I can’t believe this is still allowed – all three are the same bad pizza place,” raged one man on Reddit, sharing a snapshot of three listings.
One driver revealed that he bought a Philadelphia cheesesteak at an “Italian restaurant” and a barbecue meal at an “American” restaurant, which actually came from the same kitchen in the city’s shopping center.
“I know a pizza place around the corner that literally has like 30 different names with delivery companies, everything from pizza, burgers, wings, pasta, sandwich, etc. Yeah, the food sucks,” said another.
