Go Ahead Eagles played a 1-1 draw at FC Twente on Sunday afternoon and trainer René Hake struggled with mixed feelings afterwards. The coach was happy with the point, but also realizes that his team had nothing to contribute in the first half.
“It could have just happened that after the first 35 minutes we could have just as well got on the bus home,” he says on the website of The Stentor. “It was 35 minutes without a chance for us”, said Hake, who saw that the club from Deventer showed resilience in the second half.
“This was a top match. I put FC Twente in the ranks of Ajax, PSV, Feyenoord and AZ, it’s just an excellent team,” he notes. “But after those 35 minutes without a chance, it got a bit better for us before the break. And in the second half we showed a lot more. We were at least equal to FC Twente.”
