A woman presented the ‘tiny house’ which only cost her $45,000 after she transformed a shed to create the perfect compact living space.
Kelsey McCain of Alabama took to TikTok to preview the property, which has just 756 square feet of space, including the porch, which she shares with her husband, two daughters and their dog.
She not only showed the house around, but also revealed the costs of the whole project – helped by the fact that her family gave her the land and also received a whole host of gifts.
But nonetheless, other social media users were stunned and called this compact space “inspirational.”

“It’s our front door and it opens into our kitchen – and our kitchen goes into our living room,” Kelsey reveals.
She pans the camera to show the open-plan space with high ceilings and laminate wood flooring.
The kitchen appears to have plenty of work space available for meal preparation and is equipped with an oven, stove, double sink, microwave and even a double-sided refrigerator .
And the living room also benefits from a configuration that makes it possible to work in this restricted space: a main sofa, two armchairs and a wall-mounted flat-screen television.
Kelsey continues the visit by taking the hallway that leads to the bathroom.
“We have storage there, we have our water heater, we have a clawfoot tub, we have a shower, toilet and everything else,” she proudly states.

Continuing, Kelsey said, “Once you get out of there, you can turn around and walk into my daughter’s room…very full of toys.”
The next stop on the tour is the main chamber which was built as an addition to the existing structure.
The mum-of-two explained: “It’s not the 14×40 part, it’s a 14×14 part that we added once we had our second child because it was very tight here .
“That obviously adds a ton of extra space.”
The final stop is the garden which features DIY flower beds, an outdoor seating area and a small shed which houses the family laundry room.
And the video caused a stir online, with dozens of other users raving about it.
One wrote: “Love it…very inspiring! »
Another added: “It’s amazing and it doesn’t look too small! To like!
And a third simply replied: “Very comfortable and welcoming”.
Others demanded to know more about Kelsey’s home, prompting her to post a follow-up clip revealing the cost of the project.

“You had a ton of questions about converting our tiny house into a shed, but the biggest question was about the cost…
“We started this about four years ago in November 2019 and I went there and bought a 14×40 shed and it was a pension so I got 10% off.
“And we kept it that way for a few years and then finally added a 14 x 14 bedroom addition.
“At first it was just me and my toy poodle living here, then it started to be me, my husband and my dog, then me and my husband and our first daughter, then me and my husband and our first and our second daughter. .’
She said that in total the property is 756 square feet, which includes the porch.
Kelsey continued, “We had lots of ways to save money with this house. We had a family friend redoing his bathrooms, so we used his bathroom cabinets as kitchen cabinets.
“They are a bit smaller but they work perfectly for what we needed.”
“My family owned a business where they sold windows. So we had window samples that were actually the perfect size to add a few extra windows to the main hangar area…
“We had second-hand items. We got a free kitchen sink that belonged to my mom, we got a clawfoot tub that we got from my parents that they bought from someone years ago.

Others demanded to know more about Kelsey’s home, prompting her to post a follow-up clip revealing the cost of the project.

The mother-of-two revealed that when she bought the case, the full price was $9,436.43.
“Also in terms of plumbing, my family owns a plumbing business, which obviously came in handy.
“And my dad did all the work. He built everything, he did the plumbing, the electrical, the flooring, everything from start to finish.
“He built it all on his own. We obviously helped him, but he was the one who had the plan.”
She continued, “As far as buying land, we are only on family land. I have my parents nearby and my uncle, grandmother and cousin, great uncle across the road – we all live very close, we have lots of land and were very grateful to be able to to be able to put this in place because it saved us a lot of money.
“Taking all this into account, when I purchased the hull itself, the total price for the hangar alone was $9,436.43.
“The total construction materials for the main body and the addition came to about $35,000.
“In total, it cost around $45,000 to do all of this. That being said, the bulk was done before Covid and the extra was done after Covid.
“So the whole 14×40 was basically the same price as adding the 14×14 only.”
She concluded: “Overall, I think it’s a very comfortable home, even with two kids here.
“And every time I came back here and was looking for a place to live, there were hardly any places to rent that fit my budget or in the neighborhood where I wanted to be.
“It was a great option for us and I’m very happy we did it.”
