Leah Vidaurre, 36, of Parma Heights, Ohio, has gotten creative about reusing the breast milk her toddler doesn't drink in a day.

A crafty mum has revealed how she makes popsicles from her excess breast milk for her family to enjoy – and even her husband has a go.

Since giving birth to her second child, Leah Vidaurre of Parma Heights, Ohio, has been dealing with an oversupply of breast milk and doesn’t know what to do with it.

The 36-year-old mother produces 60 ounces, or about 7.5 cups, daily, but her toddler only drinks about half that amount.

So, she decided to take advantage of the extra money and prepare fruit-flavored snacks to share with her family.

“I think I created an oversupply by pumping every three hours as soon as my son was born,” she said.

“Doing this signaled to my body that it needed more milk, so I started producing more,” she speculated.

On popsicles, she added: “I’ll only stop making them when my kids stop eating them!”

Leah explained how, after giving birth to her second child, she began to produce excess breast milk.

Not wanting the leftover milk to go to waste, she decided to start trying out different ways to use it, including turning it into smoothies and even making milk soap.

After much experimentation, she discovered that fruit-flavored milk popsicles were the tastiest dessert.

And now she shares them with her children – and even her husband – to make sure that none of her breast milk goes to waste.

Two cups of milk make four popsicles, he shared.

The mom sees it as a creative way to make sure her children get all the extra benefits of breast milk, like vitamins and calcium, while enjoying a sweet treat at the same time.

Not wanting her leftover breast milk, which she calls “liquid gold,” to go to waste, Leah began experimenting with other uses for it.

One of the best uses she's found for extra breast milk is to mix it with fruit and freeze it, creating fruit-flavored popsicles.

“If you have excess breast milk like I do, it’s fun to experiment with other ways to use it,” Leah said.

Most people online have been supportive of Leah’s creativity, but she explained that some have left mocking comments, such as baby noises and immature jokes.

“I think the comments are being made by very immature people who have no idea what it’s like to raise or have children,” she said.

‘Breast milk is called liquid gold for a reason – it has so many benefits. If you have an excess supply, like me, it’s fun to experiment with other ways to use it.

‘My husband has tried it and says the milk is sweet.

‘And I tasted my breast milk, I was very curious about its taste.

‘I’ve made a lot of things with milk.

‘I sometimes put milk in smoothies for my toddler and make purees for my baby when he starts eating solid foods.’

Leah said she had also tried making butter from her milk, but had been unsuccessful. She had had better luck with soap, however.

“I also use it in milk baths if my children have diaper rash,” she added.
