A businessman who earns a staggering $200,000 a year has slammed Gen Z workers, claiming they are unreliable.

The Gold Coast man revealed that managing younger workers was one of the hardest things to do while running his roofing and cladding business.

“With the generation that’s younger than me, no one is trustworthy,” she told employment app Getahead in a TikTok video.

He said the best part of being self-employed is the “freedom” to do what he wants because he is the boss.

The man also revealed that he never studied business and said he worked hard to move up after landing a job in a trade.

“You go out there and your mindset is, either you’re motivated or you’re not,” he said.

“If you don’t have motivation, you want to work for someone else. If you have motivation, you work for yourself.”

He also encouraged people who want to start their own business to “not be afraid” and “just do it.”

Dozens of social media users agreed that owning a business has its benefits.

“Working 100 hours so I don’t have to work 38 for someone else,” one person wrote.

“I feel this deeply, in the core of my being as a business owner,” another person wrote.

Others said that there are many people who put effort into their work even if they are not self-employed.

“Working for someone else doesn’t mean you have no motivation,” one wrote.

Corey Tomkins blamed social media for presenting a false view of how easy it is to succeed.

“Influencers promote get-rich-quick schemes that get into the heads of these learners and almost create a point of entitlement,” he said.

“It’s not even one percent of people who have those Lambos, have those mansions, have all those nice things that are promoted on social media.”
