A man who lost his penis in a horrific motorcycle accident has revealed how the crash affected his sex life.
The 33-year-old was riding his motorcycle in 2020 when he was hit by a drunk driver and felt “something sharp” on impact as his genitals were split in half.
Although doctors were able to reconstruct it, the new penis became infected a week later, forcing it to be completely amputated.
Despite being left with a slight ‘stump’, he said he has learned to stop taking himself too seriously and that his and his wife’s sex life ‘has improved a lot’ since the accident.

Ross Asdourian, a New York comedian, suffered a fractured penis during sex in 2015. In his book Broken Bananah, he wrote that it took extensive surgery and several months of recovery before he was able to urinate or have sex again.
“It’s so important to surround yourself with people who are genuinely interested in your happiness,” said the anonymous man, who wants to remain anonymous.
“It was great to have a wife who fully accepted me and never made me feel inferior.”
The man is one of about 600 Americans who suffer a penile fracture each year, which usually occurs during sexual intercourse or from physical trauma such as a motorcycle accident.

In an Ask Me Anything (AMA) thread on Reddit, the motorcycle victim explained that the first year after losing his penis was the one that affected him the most.
“Mentally, the first year was horrible and I spent a lot of time with my psychiatrist,” he said.
“I felt like I was no longer a man and I didn’t want to be married anymore and I felt like I could never look at my wife again.”
He noted that he was especially self-conscious because the small amount he had left was not enough for penetrative sex, so he repressed any sexual desire.
However, after about two years, the user said he ‘stopped taking himself so seriously’ and used humor to deal with the situation.
This renewed sense of confidence also allowed him and his wife to start experimenting more in the bedroom.
Instead of penetrative sex, they opt for sex toys like strap-ons and focus on prostate stimulation.
“Our sex life has improved a lot. We put on the harness and learn to stimulate each other in other ways,” she said. “Now we are both very happy sexually.”
He also noted that he can still ejaculate from the remaining portion of his penis.
The man also revealed that after “doctors did some work on him” he can now urinate normally, although he can no longer stand up. “I feel like a woman,” he said.
The accident also caused several infections in his urethra, for which he had to have a temporary catheter inserted. “I don’t hold my urine as well as I used to, but it’s not a big problem if I go to the bathroom regularly,” the man said.
After the accident, one of the man’s testicles was also removed.
The man said his wife has been “very supportive” throughout the ordeal and that “a supportive partner is essential” in his recovery. For now, the couple is considering adopting children.
“I would do anything to get my role back, but what happened happened and I have learned to enjoy the small positive things that it brought with it,” she said.
