Chongqing is one of China’s largest and most futuristic cities, and a TikTok user has shared what it’s like to commute to work every day in this multi-level township.
TikTok creator and Chongqing Local Jackson shared his day in the life when he came to work in the fourth largest city in China, which involves elevators, subways, and not once was he on the ground floor.
The city, which has a population of more than 32 million people, is often referred to as China’s Cyberpunk City. The towering city is filled with giant buildings, multi-level highways, and a subway system that runs through residential buildings, all built on mountainous terrain.
For Jackson, his commute begins by walking down the stairs of his 18-story apartment, which has no elevator.
“Fortunately, I only need to go down a few floors because the ground floor is on the 12th floor,” he said, showing off the gigantic gray concrete building.

“It’s a shame for the people who live down there, they have to go up and the sunlight is like a luxury for them,” he commented.
Next, you enter the subway station, a sinister-looking gray box, surrounded by tall gray walls.
“It feels like the entrance to a fallout shelter,” he said.
“The train happens to pass by an apartment building and here it passes another apartment building, because why not?”
Finally, Jackson reaches the town square and notes that he “must finally be on dry land, right?”
It’s wrong, he tells the spectators, speaking from the edge of the square.
“I’m on the 22nd floor of my office building,” he said, looking down at the street below.
Walking across the plaza, Jackson walked to another edge, showing the shot of the busy streets below the office building.
His trip includes elevators, a subway, and a sky-high bus, but not once on the ground floor.
Thousands of users commented on the video, with more than 9.6 million views, many of them horrified and impressed by the futuristic urban landscape.
“There’s a lot of traffic all the way to the riverbank,” he marveled.
In case this isn’t everyone’s idea of how to commute, Jackson shows what his commute home from work on the bus is like.
However, it does show a shot of him in the vehicle, which is on a road 20 stories in the sky with the treetops far below.
