A young mother of three feels bad after discovering that the “love of her life” and the father of her children is also her brother.

In a post on a women’s counseling group, the Melbourne mother said she was adopted at birth but never knew the people who raised her were not her biological parents.

‘I never thought that my parents were not my parents. “No one said anything until a few weeks ago, when my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer,” the woman revealed.

She “started digging” and found her biological mother and “a couple of siblings,” including her fiancé, who has a different father.

The mother said she and her brother immediately separated and called off their wedding, but they don’t know how to explain what they discovered to their children.

‘I just feel bad. They are brothers and cousins. “His mother is my biological mother,” she said. ‘My world has imploded… I’m not okay.’

He added that they “obviously can’t be together,” but they love each other “a lot.”

The post divided opinion, with some claiming it “must be fake” and others urging her to “run.”

“I would feel so bad,” one woman said.

“I can’t believe no one has ever told you this is their fault,” said another.

‘Don’t you know his mother? Surely she would have recognized you,” said a third.

While others questioned “how small” their city is.

But some people didn’t see the problem in the relationship.

‘I would visit a psychologist and get counselling, but there is no need to cancel it. “They didn’t know they were brothers,” said one woman.

“This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. I’d say keep it to yourself and be happy together,” said another.

“I don’t see why they can’t be together,” echoed a third.

Some asked about her children, to which she revealed that they were all “normally developing.”

“I wouldn’t say anything to the kids, it’s not their fault,” one woman advised.

Others said they should wait to tell them until they are older, but get tested to make sure they are as healthy as they look.

According to Hellesnorge, the national health service in Norway, where endogamy has been an issue, there are key problems with having children with blood relatives.

If you have children with a relative, the risk of malformations or medical conditions is “double” because both parents are likely to have the defective gene.

Close blood relationships also increase the risk of stillbirth and infant death. Children with related parents are also more likely to have a reduced life expectancy.

Conditions inherited through blood relationship are usually serious. Examples include metabolic disorders, skin diseases and blood disorders, physical and mental development problems, and damage to hearing and/or vision.
