A young mother has revealed how a “stupid” decision she made in her early 20s is still affecting her life eight years on – and the drastic measure she’s taking to put it right.

Lily Wright, from Meadow Heights in Victoria, got three tattoos on her face when she was 20 and under the influence of drugs.

The tattoos include the word ‘rotten’ written in capital letters on his cheekbone, a heart above the word and the Christian cross above his eyebrow.

“My tattoos were inspired by Harley Quinn,” Lily told FEMAIL.

“But I got them in 2016, when I was heavily involved in crime and drugs.”

The 28-year-old now has a four-year-old daughter and is worried that her mistake could negatively impact her daughter’s life.

“I want them removed for my daughter’s sake because I don’t want other parents at school to judge me,” she said.

Lily often has to deal with strangers pointing and staring at her in public, some even approaching her and asking questions about her face tattoos.

“I know what you’re thinking,” she said. “I feel very stigmatized.”

“I’ve always gotten a lot of criticism for my tattoos, even right after I got them. I really regret it.”

Lily was shocked by people’s reactions and never expected her loved ones and strangers to be so direct.

“I was expecting some negativity, but I was honestly surprised,” she said. “My parents and brother were very upset when they gave them to me.”

The young mother shared that people always stare at her even more when she is in public with her daughter.

‘I try to cover my tattoos with makeup, but they always rub off by the middle of the day.

‘Tattoos connect me to my old life and that’s not who I am anymore.’

Lily was selected as one of 150 people who needed free tattoo removal services as part of Moving global initiative

The mother said she was looking forward to starting over and hopefully getting a job in retail or warehousing.

The mom also has tattoos on her neck and the rest of her body, but she is focusing on getting rid of the icons on her face because they are the hardest to hide.

“Getting my tattoos removed will be a new beginning,” she said.
