A boss has come under fire for texting an employee about a non-essential work matter while he was on vacation.

Tom instantly felt stressed after reading his boss’s message explaining that the Area Manager was not impressed with the team’s performance.

British racing expert Ben Askins received the text messages and read the conversation in a… video.

“Hi Tom, I hope you’re having a great time on your vacation. No need to reply right now, but just wanted to keep you posted,” the boss wrote.

“We’ve had a visit from the area manager and he’s very upset about our figures. I think we’re going to have some very difficult meetings when you get back.”

Tom, confused, replied: “I just saw this and I’m a little worried. Should we call each other?”

But the boss refused and encouraged him not to think about it.

“Like I said, I don’t want to worry you while you’re on vacation. There’s nothing you can do about it except wait until you get back. But he’s a real piece of shit, he’s in a bad mood and I really don’t know what he’ll be like when you get back,” the boss replied.

“There’s nothing you or I can do now, I just wanted to let you know. Relax and enjoy your free time,” the boss continued.

Ben was shocked by the text exchange and called it the behavior of a “bad boss.”

“I almost think the most depressing thing about this is that he almost thinks he’s doing the right thing,” Ben said.

“He said, ‘Well, I’ll let you know,’ but he’s on vacation. All you’ve done is ruin his vacation.”

However, Ben said that if the situation were an emergency it could be justified.

“Seriously, all you’ve done is make him panic for the rest of the week and then he’ll have to deal with that whole shit show,” Ben continued.

“So what the hell were you playing at? That’s not good enough.”

The short video has since been viewed more than 66,000 times and others agreed.

“He absolutely wanted him to care and he’s a bad boss for it,” one wrote.

Another agreed, saying: “I just wanted to ruin the guy’s holiday.”

“Start applying for new positions now and schedule interviews now,” wrote a third.

Someone else said: “He may have had good intentions, but the timing was terrible.”

“That’s why you ignore it. I’ve always had bosses who tried to make you worry but you just ignore it. Start applying for other jobs. It changes my stress level when I start ignoring this kind of stuff,” wrote another person.
