There is always one family member who cuts it off around the designated dinner time on Christmas Day.

But one woman had the perfect excuse, as she managed to not only give birth to her baby on December 25, but also return home for a festive party.

Angel Musgrove, 20, welcomed her daughter early on Christmas morning and was eating roast 19 hours later.

Little Elsie was born at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, at 3.07am weighing 7lb 15oz. His mother was discharged that night.

Ángel, whose birthday falls less than ten days before his daughter’s on December 16, admitted that it was the best Christmas dinner he has ever had; and the first proper meal she or her partner had received in three days.

The tasty treat was a happy relief after the hours spent in the hospital.

“I was induced around noon on Monday and went into labor more than 24 hours later,” she said.

‘I was in labor all Christmas Eve and Elsie was born in the early hours of Christmas morning. To be honest, it’s been quite surprising.

Angel revealed that it was “a really strange feeling to go through the chaos of childbirth and suddenly you bring her home and it’s all silence and peace.”

“Her due date was Christmas Eve,” he explained. “I was hoping it would come a little earlier than expected so I could be home for Christmas, but that’s not what happened.

“Elsie is my first baby and she is absolutely the best Christmas present I could have asked for.”

The new parents named Elsie after their father’s grandmother, whose initials are LC.

But as delicious as the dinner was, it arrived quite late, as the couple couldn’t eat until after 10 p.m.

Both baby and mother are now at home in Woodbridge, Suffolk, and are doing well, and Angel says he would make up for the fact that his daughter's birthday falls on the festive period by also getting her presents in the summer.

“We didn’t leave the hospital until a quarter to ten,” he said. ‘Mom reserved dinner for us; She was ready and warmed up when we got to hers.

We were eating between ten and ten thirty. At that point we were desperate for our Christmas dinner.

‘During the three days before Elsie was born, I don’t think her father or I slept more than four hours a night.

‘It was the first proper meal we had eaten since I was induced.

“It was 100 percent the best Christmas dinner of my life.”
