Dagmara Kedzierska, 30, from Manchester, decided to travel abroad because she was prevented from traveling within the UK due to rising train fares.

It would have cost her alone more than £100 to take a train back from her home in Manchester to the capital.

So the thrifty traveler decided to fly to Milan Bergamo for just £50 return.

Catching his flight home, he arrived in Manchester at just 1am the next day.

Dagmara said: ‘Day trips abroad are much more attractive as they are most of the time cheaper than staying in the UK.

‘My trip to Milan cost me less than £200 including flights, transport, food and drinks.

‘The weather abroad is also more likely to be better than here. I live in Manchester and the weather hasn’t been the best lately! Traveling abroad, even just for a day, puts me in the holiday mood.’
