The most controversial new Democratic member of Congress is trying to find out how to afford an apartment in Washington and is trying to stretch money from her restaurant job until January.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, 29, shocked Washington through powerful Queens Rep. Joe Crowley to drop off. Now, as a new freshman legislator, the democratic socialist has other problems of her own.
The transition period between her election wins Tuesday and her sworn in in January is a problem, and she no longer withdraws her salary.
