A husband has revealed the “innocent” comment that got him into trouble with his wife – and she refused to speak to him for two days afterwards.
The couple went to a cafe for lunch, but he never expected that his request to order food and coffee at the same time would label him as “arrogant” and “selfish.”
‘It wasn’t a dinner to sit back and enjoy the experience; It was a place to get some food, hang out with my wife and catch up, and then go to work. Nothing special,” he said on Reddit.
The man and his wife had already discussed what they wanted to eat, so he told the waitress that they were ready to order food when she approached them.
“The waitress hesitated and said they were only supposed to take food orders after the drinks had been delivered. But I asked to place the order at the same time because I had to go to work and knew what I wanted; I didn’t even need a menu “, said.

The waitress finally took their orders and left, causing the man to turn to his wife and share his thoughts on the strange policy.
“I understand that cafes and restaurants want you to drink once while you wait and then, when the food arrives, order another drink, but it bothers me that they manipulate me like this,” he told his wife.
‘I always order both at the same time and wait until the food arrives to take a sip of my drink. It’s also a shorter time from arrival to departure as I place the order as soon as I get there rather than having to wait an extra ten minutes.’
However, his wife turned red.
‘My wife called me arrogant for (ordering coffee and breakfast at the same time). “She’s a waitress and she said what I did meant she was jumping the line and making others wait longer for her food,” she said.
‘I said I wasn’t jumping any queues as if there were others who hadn’t ordered yet, they weren’t in the queue. I didn’t demand that my food be prepared before everyone else. I just wanted to get in and out of the cafe as quickly as possible to go to work.
‘My wife was furious because she didn’t see it the same way. I think I’m ordering my food and waiting for it, but saving myself ten unnecessary minutes.’
Still, the couple could not agree on the matter.
The waitress was hesitant to take his order due to a strange policy.
