Recently, an Australian woman asked people to guess her age and was surprised when most of the answers were between 50 and 60 years old.
Emily Jane He told FEMAIL that everyone is “so used to seeing faces with filters, photoshop and cosmetic procedures that they have lost touch with reality.”
Emily, from Sydney, just turned 36 years old. She was “shocked” by all the “wild” responses she received to her video from both young and old.
“I’m 57 and I think you’re my age, maybe a few years younger,” one woman guessed on Emily’s TikTok.
“You’re about 40 years old,” declared another. “It’s your gray hair, your skin, the fine lines around your eyes and the expression lines.”

‘I stopped dying my hair during lockdown and embraced my grey. Women want to feel comfortable being themselves. “We’re all tired of trying to be 25 all the time,” Emily said.
“I know most people my age don’t show their gray hair, but this is the truth.”
Emily started going gray when she was 19 and many people think it is an indicator of old age or being over 50 years old.
“I’ve never had Botox, I don’t wear makeup, I’ve never had any work done,” she said in the video.
She also noted that she has bags under her eyes because she has a young son who keeps her awake at night.
However, the comments kept coming, even though she revealed her true age.
“You look pretty good for a 55-year-old,” said one.
“I’d say you’re 37 to be kind, but you actually look 44. It’s the skin under your eyes and your hair,” another wrote.
’36, you’re turning 60. It’s probably your hair that’s aging you, but you’re still very beautiful,’ one man wrote.
A 15-year-old thought she was 42, while a 60-year-old said Emily looked the same age as her.
A handful of people in their 30s and 20s correctly guessed that Emily was 36 years old.
Emily started going gray when she was 19 and many people think it is an indicator of old age or being over 50 years old.
In a follow-up video, Emily shared her shock and horror at the range of comments.
‘Someone is 35 years old and thinks I’m 58. Do I really look that old? Like I’m close to retirement age? she asked.
“I think it’s essential to remember that what you see on social media and what you see on television or what you’ve seen in magazines, and people have been saying this for years, is not real.”
The mother launched a sleepwear brand to combat endless anti-aging campaigns on social media.
