A father has admitted that he stormed out of his pregnant wife’s party after learning that they have a girl because he wants a son to ‘throw a ball’ and ‘go out with boy scouts’.
The 33-year-old, who also has a five-year-old daughter with his wife, opened up about the ‘bitter disappointment’ he felt at the time in a candid post shared on Reddit’s’AmtheA ** holeforum.
The man was quickly labeled as “sexist” and “misogyny” by commentators, many of whom pointed out that the activities he wanted to do with a son can all be done with his little girls.

At the beginning of the post, he explained that his 34-year-old wife’s sister offered to schedule her a gender reveal party because “ she’s been moody all her pregnancy. ”
In the run-up to the event, they had their doctor write the baby’s gender on a piece of baby and gave it to his sister-in-law to schedule the gender reveal. At the end of the party, they were given special sparklers that glow blue or pink to reveal the baby’s gender.
“So flash ahead to the day of the party and the moment of truth comes and the sparkler turns pink for a girl,” he recalled. “I don’t know what happened to me, but all I felt at the time was a very bitter disappointment.
“Honestly, for baby number two, I was just hoping he could throw a ball with him and coach the small league. Or watch him go out with boy scouts. ‘
The expectant father of two admitted that he is already struggling to raise his oldest child because she is a girl.
Getting help: The man was quickly labeled as “sexist” and “misogyny” by commentators, and some claimed he needed therapy
“I know my daughter is only five, but I’ve already started the dramas of being a girl’s father and the thought of doubling neuroticism now was harrowing,” he said, adding, “I grew up in a house with three older boys and a younger sister and I can’t imagine myself being in the minority. ‘
The man said he “snapped” when his wife took his arm and told him to “look happier” while their guests congratulated them. He shook his head, went to his car and drove to his younger sister’s house.
Both his wife and sister-in-law sent him a text saying “way to act out their father” and leave their mother behind when they were little.
“I felt that the accusation was unfair and that I just needed some time alone. I didn’t ask to be baffled – it just happened, “he said. “And I don’t think it’s fair that they would have demanded that I smile and nod for the next few hours.”
If the man thought he would get sympathy from readers, he was seriously mistaken. Critics adopted the comments to beat him for his response, and some claimed he needed therapy.
Just a thought: many critics pointed out that the activities he had wanted to do with a son can all be enjoyed with his daughters
“This … you are sexist,” wrote one person. “You must seek therapy because you are not very self-conscious.”
“The” neuroticism “you experience from your 5-year-old? Are you kidding? Over yourself. No matter how hard your life is as a girl father, being a real girl is much more difficult. Especially men like you, ”shared another. “Are you afraid of being in the minority? Maybe try to learn to respect women and girls so you don’t have to fear them. You need therapy. ‘
Someone else pointed out, “No one will stop you from throwing a ball with your daughter, camping with them, or encouraging them to exercise. You are the one who keeps them from this. ‘
Others noted that having a son does not guarantee that he would even be interested in baseball or boy scouts, and while he has a girl, she may not always identify as one.
“Let’s be real – you don’t know if this kid is really a girl,” a Reddit user noted. “They can be trans. They can be non-binary. And the same could be true if they were born as boys. They can be anything, but there is only one thing we know for sure: they are YOUR CHILD. ‘
