A husband has sparked a furious debate over the “right” way to spread Vegemite on a piece of toast – and thousands of Australians are arguing over who is wrong.
Vegemite was invented in Melbourne in 1923 when an Australian food manufacturer requested a product similar to British Marmite. It is made from brewery waste, a by-product of beer.
The polarizing condiment has since left many people wondering about shocking combinations, but one man’s image of his wife’s ‘terrible’ breakfast may be the worst yet.
The image revealed a soggy piece of bread with chunks of butter and vegemite spread unevenly across its surface, sparking a heated argument over the location.
“How my wife ‘spreads’ Vegemite,” he captioned the photo on Reddit. “Whether you like Vegemite or not, surely it’s an abomination?”
A husband has sparked a furious debate over the “right” way to spread Vegemite on a piece of toast – and thousands of Australians are arguing over who is wrong.
The piece of bread seemed incongruous to many, with no solid reasoning behind the random positioning of the butter and Vegemite.
Thousands criticized the woman for her “chaotic” energy and failed to understand how she could have made the spread so uneven.
“So we assume she just dipped her hand in the pot and wiped it on the bread, right?” » » was asked. “Otherwise, I just don’t see how this is physically possible.”
“I’m literally shaking and crying right now,” one man joked.
“Is the problem that the toast isn’t toasted enough to spread the vegemite without tearing off the… soft toaster-warmed bread?” » dared a woman.
One woman shared: “My husband does this but also puts strawberry jam in the empty spaces!
“Divorce is the only option,” joked another, while one said: “The police have been informed.”
Some didn’t think there was anything wrong with the image.
” I do not see the problem. Some parts are savory, savory heaven, and then you follow it up with buttery goodness!’ they say.
“I aim for an uneven distribution of Vegemite to refine my culinary experience. Big slug of Vegemite followed by a little palate cleanse before diving back in,” one man wrote.
