A woman broke down in tears in court after being accused of stabbing her husband to death during a camping trip.

Ilknur Caliskan, 46, appeared in the Shepparton Magistrates Court in Victoria on Monday morning charged with murder.

Her husband Serdar Caliskan, 50, was found in a car with a stab wound at 11.30pm on Saturday on Spur Road in Clonbinane, north of Melbourne.

Emergency services were called but Mr Caliskan died at the scene. Police arrested and charged his wife.

Caliskan cried as the details surrounding her husband’s death were read.

His relatives in the front row of the court were also seen sobbing, the Sun Herald reported.

Caliskan had difficulty hearing the details of the case as they were read due to problems with his hearing aids.

Her lawyer asked a nurse on duty to help, saying the battery in his client’s hearing aids was dead and she couldn’t hear what was being said.

The court heard it was the first time Caliskan had been arrested.

She did not apply for bail. Caliskan was taken into custody.

She will face court again in December.
