A couple found dead in a suspected suicide may have died a few days after they had not boarded the plane for a South American vacation they had booked.
The police found the man, 28 and woman, 49, with gunshot wounds in pools of blood and a discarded gun near a home in the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, north of Sydney on Thursday afternoon.
They were called to the rural estate on Doyles Creek Road after friends expressed concern about the well-being of the couple, who were believed to have been together only briefly.
It is clear that a travel agent first sounded the alarm after the couple did not board the plane for an expensive vacation they had booked to South America a few days ago, The Daily Telegraph reported.
The creepy scene was discovered after the police were called to a home on Doyles Creek Road in the Hunter Valley on Thursday at 4 p.m. in connection with a concern for the well-being of a couple
The house remained a crime scene on Friday, as investigators spent the day interviewing shocked family members, neighbors, and colleagues.
It is clear that the man worked in a mine in Hunter Valley.
The police believe that the man shot the woman before pointing the gun at himself.
& # 39; The person who warned the police said they had not heard from the couple for a few days, & # 39; Cessnock inspector Michael Gorman told The Daily Telegraph.
& # 39; We make these kinds of phone calls quite regularly, but you don't expect to find this.
The death of a man and a woman has shaken the small rural community of Doyles Creek
Police said the husband and the wife both had children from previous relationships.
Neighbors in the small rural community were startled by the tragedy.
But many residents knew very little about the couple who lived at the address.
A neighbor, who did not want to be named, told Daily Mail Australia on Friday that the woman was a mother of two who had lived in the area for about five years.
He said the man was withdrawn about six months ago.

Another neighbor described the pair as & # 39; a little odd & # 39 ;. He said the woman loved herself very much.
& # 39; I haven't heard much, but I think she's been missing for a few weeks or so. & # 39;
Hunter Valley Police will continue its investigation and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
