Hunter Biden has said he convinced his father Joe Biden to issue a public statement in support of his affair with his late brother Beau’s widow, Hallie, arguing that the relationship would seem ‘wrong’ as his father wouldn’t bless it.
“Dad,” I told him, “if people find out, but they think you don’t approve of this, it seems wrong,” Hunter Biden wrote in his memoir, Beautiful Things, due out April 6. , according to a pre-obtained copy obtained by Fox news
In early 2017, just months after his father left his position as vice president, Hunter was under pressure when a reporter called to ask about his affair with Hallie, which began while he was still married to his first wife.
Hunter argued to his father that it would be terrible for his kids if Biden didn’t bless the unusual relationship, telling him, “ The kids should know there’s nothing wrong with this, and the only person who can tell them that you it is. ‘

Biden was reluctant, but eventually released a statement saying, “ We are all lucky that Hunter and Hallie found each other as they were rebuilding their lives after such grief. They have the full support of me and Jill and we are happy for them. ‘
Hunter says his relationship with Hallie was born of mutual grief and unfolded when he “relapsed” into substance abuse after coming out of rehab.
“I was trying to hold on to a piece of my brother like crazy, and I think Hallie did the same,” Hunter wrote.

If we weren’t all in, we were worried, the relationship would be seen as a lusty affair. So we tried to make something work that, in hindsight, was never in the map, ”he continued.
Hunter’s relationship with Hallie was blown up by 2019, around the same time as a string of his foreign business ventures evaporated. He then married South African filmmaker Melissa Cohen, with whom he has a son.
Sunday, Hunter spoke about in an interview about his drug addiction, his relationship with sister-in-law Hallie Biden, the ongoing FBI research into his finances and his decision to join the Burisma board.
More often than not, I would sit on my hands and knees picking carpets and smoking anything that even remotely resembled crack cocaine. I’ve probably smoked more parmesan cheese than anyone else, ” the president’s son said with a laugh to CBS Sunday Morning, as he told Tracy Smith about his battle with addiction.
The younger Biden said his father organized an intervention for him during his time as vice president. “He kind of dumped the Secret Service,” Hunter Biden recalled, as the now president told his son, “You’re not doing well.”
In a teaser released Friday for another part of the interview, Hunter Biden spoke of a second intervention, in which the then 2020 presidential candidate chased his son down the driveway, pleading with him to stop using drugs.

On CBS Sunday Morning, Smith asked about the current FBI investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes, which came to light in December during the transition. Hunter Biden released a statement at the time through the Biden-Harris transition agency.
He told CBS he couldn’t discuss the matter much.
‘I can say this. I cooperate fully and I am absolutely certain, 100 percent certain, that I will be cleared of any wrongdoing at the end of the investigation, ”said the president’s son.
Reporting on that research suggests it is engaged in Hunter Biden’s business dealings with Chinese companies.
As for his business in Ukraine, Hunter Biden said he did not believe it was a mistake to take a seat on the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma.
“No, I don’t think I made a mistake taking a spot on that plate,” he said. “I think I made a mistake in underestimating the way it would be used against me.”
Smith pushed back, suggesting it was hard to believe Hunter Biden didn’t realize optics could look bad.

“I’m as honest as I can with you,” Hunter Biden replied. “All I know is that no investigative agency, no serious journalist has ever accused – ever come to the conclusion that I did something wrong, or that my father did something wrong.”
Former President Donald Trump made Burisma a household name, driving the crowds to make Hunter Biden rich with his name – and that Joe Biden stepped in and fired a Ukrainian prosecutor for investigating Burisma to protect his son.
Hunter’s new memoir, Beautiful Things, will be released April 6
As he does in his upcoming memoir, “Beautiful Things,” he explained what forced him to date Hallie, Beau Biden’s widow.
‘I think it confused people. And I understand that, ”he said. It came out of a truly overwhelming grief that we both shared. And we were together trying to do the right thing, and that grief turned into a hope of love that might replace what we had lost. ‘
And it didn’t work. It didn’t work, ”he said.
He added, “I’ve made a lot of decisions that I probably shouldn’t have made.”
Smith said Hunter Biden told her he was sober since he married his second wife, Melissa Cohen.
Hunter Biden said he spoke to his father every night – and that the president called all the grandchildren daily as well.
“He always did, by the way,” Hunter Biden said. “Because he lost – because, like me, he knows what it’s like not to answer the phone and talk to your son,” Hunter Biden said, choking.
Smith said, “He almost lost you.”
‘Jaaa Jaaa. Yes, ”Hunter Biden agreed. ‘It is difficult.’
‘I’m a Biden, we cry too much,’ he added.
