Shocking images have revealed how the pit lane at the Hungarian Grand Prix was flooded less than 48 hours before the first qualifying session.

The first practice session is due to take place shortly after midday on Friday, but bad weather has raised serious doubts about whether it will be able to go ahead.

The weather is expected to improve and warm weather is forecast for Hungary over the weekend.

With temperatures expected to range between 33°C and 34°C on race day, F1 fans will be able to relax.

But images showing staff wading in ankle-deep water are sure to cause concern.

This comes after F1 fans yesterday dug up old comments from Ralf Schumacher where he criticised Lewis Hamilton’s on-track activism as “dangerous” after the former driver announced he was gay on social media.

In the past, Hamilton has used her platform to help raise awareness on a variety of issues, notably being vocal about the Black Lives Matter movement and also supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

He has also been seen wearing a Progress Pride helmet with a rainbow printed on it at several races in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Schumacher made the surprise announcement on social media that he was gay on Sunday, posting a photo of himself arm in arm with his French sales representative Etienne on Instagram.

She added the caption: ‘The most beautiful thing in life is when you have the right partner by your side with whom you can share everything.’

But some on X (formerly Twitter) have criticised the 49-year-old after uncovering comments he had allegedly made, according to Sport1 in 2021, claiming Hamilton’s on-track activism was “polarising”.
