Mysterious packages of cocaine continue to appear on the east coast of Australia and five more bricks were discovered on Monday, adding to the 300kg already seized by authorities.
Lifeguards on Sydney’s northern beaches discovered two bricks of the drug on Freshwater Beach and another three on Curl Curl Beach.
Police were contacted at around 7.30am and the packages, estimated to be worth around $1 million, were sent for analysis.
It is believed to be part of the same illegal shipment that has been appearing since December.
Some have speculated that the illicit cargo may have fallen overboard during a storm, but so far the New South Wales Police have not released any information about the investigation.
Up to 213kg of cocaine has been discovered on the coast between Sydney and Newcastle, of which 90kg was found on New Year’s Eve (one of the packages is pictured).

“Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command seized the items, which will be forensically examined,” police said in a statement.
‘The Marine Area Command police carried out patrols without further findings. As investigations continue, the public is reminded to report any suspicious packages to authorities.

Additional searches along the coast uncovered six more packages on beaches stretching from Newcastle to Sydney.
Since then, different quantities of the drug have also arrived at different places.
In January, New South Wales police hired a marine expert to help detectives determine how long tightly wrapped packages have been floating in the ocean.
Since December 22, up to 213 kilos of cocaine have been discovered along the coast, and 90 kilos of the drug have been found on New Year’s Eve.
