It was attended mostly by college students who were celebrating a break from school.
Billed as Atlanta’s most popular street party, the week-long festival saw attendees dance, sing, and party with each other on the streets of Atlanta.
Freaknik was an annual party held in Georgia during spring break. It began in 1983 as a small outing hosted by the D.C. Metro Club – but by the 1990s it had grown into one of the largest events in the southern state.
But as with any raucous celebration, people have done some things they hoped will never reappear–and are now terrified that some of their most unseemly endeavors will be exposed.
Variety reported that the document is set to “narrate the rise and fall of a small outing at Atlanta’s HBCU that exploded into an influential street party and spotlighted ATL as a major cultural stage.”
It is believed that it will focus specifically on the biggest movie Freaknik, which took place in 1994, and will premiere in April 2024 in honor of the 40th anniversary.
Several people who were at the party took to social media to express their concerns.
“You all, I don’t know, we might be in trouble.” Did you all see that Hulu is about to release a documentary on “94 Freaknik?” One TikToker named Tina said in a video shared over the weekend.

In her video, which has more than 300,000 views on TikTok and has also been shared on Twitter, where it has garnered 13.9 million, Tina added that she tried to avoid any cameras she saw at the festival and said she hoped it “works for her.” “

Several people who were also at the party took to the comments section to express their concerns

One of the women, Tammy, pointed out that Generation X is supposed to be the “no-receipt generation.”

Another TikToker, named Destinee, stated, “I swear, if you catch my mom or aunts Twerking, I’m coming for your necks.”

“This Freaknik documentary will see a lot of homes in ruins,” said a man named Darcy in one of the TikTok videos.
“I said to my mom, ‘I don’t know what happened in ’94, but I was born in ’94. I know you were here doing something you weren’t supposed to do.”
Another TikToker, named Destinee, stated, “I swear, if you catch my mom or aunts Twerking, I’m coming for your necks.”
“We’re going to watch our mama act like a fucking idiot y’all,” another person, Topanga, wrote in another video.
