- The new general director of ABC is announced
- Kim Williams described as “an unusually good fit”
Former Nine Entertainment chief executive Hugh Marks has been appointed ABC’s new chief executive.
ABC president Kim Williams described Marks as “an unusually good person” for the national broadcaster.
Marks will take over in March, when current CEO David Anderson hands over the reins.
“All Australians, when they want to know the truth, the facts or at least the different perspectives on an issue to stay informed, know they can turn to the ABC and trust that that’s where they are.” I’m going to get (that),’ Marks said.
‘We should simply focus (on): What can we do well? How can we do it right?’
“I think focusing on those things and making decisions to prioritize the things that can be done well is a discussion we’re all going to have to have.”
