Hugh Jackman underwent a nose biopsy on Monday at the behest of his doctors, when he informed his fans of his health condition less than eight years after revealing a previous battle with skin cancer.

The 52-year-old resident of Sydney, Australia, wrote the photo in a Twitter post: “A couple of notes: get your skin checked often, please don’t think it can’t happen to you and most of all wear sunscreen.”

In a clip to the post, Jackman donned a protective face mask to reveal a small bandage on his nose in the wake of the procedure, explaining the goings-on that preceded it.

“I just went to see Lisa and Trevor, my wonderful dermatologist and doctors,” the Oscar-nominated actor said in the clip. “They saw something that was a little erratic, so they took a biopsy to have it checked.

“So if you see a picture of me with this on, don’t panic. Thanks for your concern, I’ll let you know what’s going on, but they think it’s probably okay.’

The well-mannered actor urged his fans to keep up to date with their health situation and ended the clip by saying, ‘Remember, go get a check and wear sunscreen – don’t be like me as a kid – just wear sunscreen. ‘

The Greatest Showman actor has spoken publicly about his battle with skin cancer in the past when he was treated for basal cell carcinoma in November 2013.

He opened up to People about the ordeal in 2015, telling the outlet that he was checked “every three months” after his initial diagnosis.

“It’s the new normal for me,” he said. “My doctor says I’ll probably have more, and if that’s your cross to bear in life, you should be so lucky.”

Jackman added: ‘It’s always a bit of a shock to hear the word cancer. Being an Australian it is very common. I never wore sunscreen when I was growing up, so I was a prime candidate for it.”

He told ABC news in 2015 that his childhood was “all outdoors” and that protective ointments such as sunscreen were not a priority in his family.

“I don’t think my mom or dad ever bought it or forced us to put it on,” he said. “What I remember most, the rule about being outside, was that you weren’t allowed to swim within half an hour of eating… and that’s not true.”

Jackman is currently preparing for the Broadway musical The Music Man, which will premiere later this year.
