Hewlett Packard has confirmed it plans to continue its claim for up to £3bn in damages against the estate of Mike Lynch
Hewlett Packard has confirmed it plans to pursue its claim for up to £3bn in damages against the estate of Mike Lynch following his death in last month’s superyacht disaster.
The American tech giant won a civil suit in the High Court against the tech mogul in 2022, accusing him and his former CFO.
Sushovan Hussain for fraud following the £8bn acquisition of his software company Autonomy in 2011.
Lynch, who was acquitted in a separate trial of criminal fraud in the Autonomy case in June, and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah were among seven people who died after the Bayesian superyacht sank off Sicily.
His widow, Angela Bacares, could be liable for the damages claim.
A Hewlett Packard Enterprises spokesperson said: ‘In 2022, a High Court judge ruled that HPE had been substantially successful in its civil fraud claims against Dr Lynch and Mr Hussain.
‘A hearing on damages was held in February 2024 and the judge’s decision regarding damages will be forthcoming in due course.
‘HPE intends to follow the procedure to its conclusion.’
