But Wynne is now in a relationship with fitness fanatic Liz, who is said to have helped him lose weight before Strictly.

A source said the sun: ‘Wynne and Liz met at an event and are taking things slowly, but he’s excited about the direction their relationship could take.

“He’s in a much better situation now than when his marriage ended. It’s like night and day… and he’s very happy.”

Away from the camera, Wynne was struggling with her mental health and battled depression and loneliness for years before speaking out about her struggles in a bid to help others.

To mark the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, Wynne said bbc Radio Wales on the split: ‘It was almost like a shame, but you can’t cry for someone who’s still there.

“So it really affected my mental health, my confidence and my ego; it totally changed me as a person.”

Wynne revealed that she had lost more than seven kilos after playing

Wynne said:

Wynne revealed that he had lost more than seven kilos after hitting “rock bottom” in the midst of his depression, stemming from the end of his marriage to Tanwen in 2016 (just in 2021).

Wynn continued: ‘It made me very aware of being alone. And, although he was only 46 years old, he had this irrational fear of dying alone. I had very dark thoughts and very dark days in which I contemplated all kinds of terrible things.

‘I think it’s obvious what I’m saying, but I don’t want to say it because some people find it distressing. I’m fine to talk about it now, but at that time nothing would help me. I realized I wanted my life to end and I did some stupid things.’

Wynne shared that realizing she needed help, she made an appointment with a psychiatrist and started taking medication.

He also said that fresh air and exercise help him keep depression at bay, but acknowledged that this may not work for everyone.

During an appearance on This Morning that April, Wynne said: ‘I’ve always been fat and I thought “I have to do something.”

I had trouble washing myself and going up the stairs. My mental health hasn’t been very good for the last five or six years and that’s helped me a lot.”

The father-of-two went on to say that he continued working in radio during the difficult time: ‘My show’s slogan is ‘cheer up Wales at one’, but I was going through the worst depression. ‘clinical depression.’

Speaking to Mind – the mental health charity – he explained: “On paper I had it all, a good job, I was on the radio every day, I worked for GoCompare…

“But the reality was very different, I felt alone, I could feel alone in a room full of people.”

He also offered advice on coping mechanisms for those struggling, saying: “It’s the little things that help, it’s a small thing to just pick up the phone or turn up next door and ask ‘How are you?’, it’s small, but it’s so important.’
