A mother revealed her secret 'trick' with olive oil to prevent pots from overflowing

A mum revealed her secret olive oil ‘trick’ to stop pots from overflowing – and it works every time.

Leanne Neiland from Queensland was fed up with having to deal with her pots constantly overflowing with boiling water and ruining her cooking experience.

The mother-of-two finally discovered a cooking trick that ensured this would never happen again, and all she had to do was coat the edge of her plate with olive oil.

The trick works because water can’t get through the layer of fat and spill over the sides.

Leanne simply adds a layer of oil to the edge of her pots before cooking rice, pasta or boiling anything else.

Cleaning queen Anita Birges also recently shared a similar trick that involved sticking an ice cube into a pot about to overflow.

The ice cube trick is ideal for when you forgot to grease your pot with olive oil and need a quick solution.

Thousands of people admitted that cleaning up spills from overflowing pots was extremely “annoying” and “tedious.”

But Anita’s simple trick ensures sparkling clean stovetops and reduces simmering in seconds.

“Today, while making my chicken soup, I used this clever trick I’ve been doing for years and I wanted to share it with you,” the mom said.

You can add a layer of oil to the edge of your pots before you cook rice, pasta, or boil anything else.

Anita Birges also recently shared a similar trick that involved putting an ice cube into a pot about to overflow.

He claimed it made cooking and cleaning “easier.”

“Every time I have a pot that looks like it’s about to overflow, I throw an ice cube in and that’s it!”

Many thanked the moms for their great cooking tips and shared some of their own.

“You can also put a little olive oil in the water; it helps it overflow and prevents the pasta from sticking,” said one.

“Place a wooden spoon on top of the saucepan to prevent it from overflowing,” another recommended.

‘It also works for boiling potatoes!’ said a woman. “I just use butter and rub it on the top and my potatoes don’t boil over anymore.”
