If you are switching from an iPhone, you may want to install the Google Drive AppIn the Google Drive app on your iPhone, go to Settings and Backand then choose everything you want to keep and move it to your new phone. You should also go to your iPhone Settingsaddress Messagesdeactivate iMessageand go to Settings, FaceTime to turn it off so you don’t miss calls or texts on your new phone.
People who have two-factor authentication (2FA) apps, such as Google Authenticator, should check the apps’ instructions for transferring accounts (don’t wipe your old phone until you’ve done this!). If you use any messaging apps, such as WhatsApp, back up your chats on your old phone by going to Settings, Talksand Chat Backup.
How to set up your new Android phone
Place the SIM card into your new phone (skip this step if you’re using an eSIM) and press and hold the power button to turn it on. (You can also insert the SIM card after you’ve set up the device.) You’ll need to complete a series of setup tasks, starting with selecting your language and region preferences.
Depending on the new Android phone you have, you may be able to copy data directly from your old device. While you can do this over Wi-Fi, connecting the two phones with a cable is the quickest, easiest, and usually most thorough way to copy your old data (especially photos and videos), so we recommend doing this if you have the option.
If you switch from an iPhone to an Android phone, for example, you can transfer contacts, photos, videos, and calendar events over Wi-Fi, but you must use a cable if you want to transfer messages (SMS, iMessage, WhatsApp), apps (assuming they are available in the Play Store), music (DRM-free only), and notes.
