How to Properly Take Care of Your Lashes

If you are guilty of mistreating your lashes — you have come to the right place! A lot of people just assume that they can’t reuse their fake eyelashes so they just rip them off and throw them in the garbage. However, a lot of fake eyelashes can actually be reused if you’re careful enough. Just think about how much more bang for your buck you could get if you were able to reuse your falsies again and again! If this is news to you, we are here to tell you everything you need to know about how to properly take care of your fake lashes and get tons of uses out of them.

Start With a Quality Product

The first step to taking care of your fake lashes is to actually start with a quality product that can be reused. The good news is that many of these products aren’t terribly expensive, but they aren’t drugstore cheap either. However, if you do the math, you can actually save money in the long run by buying reusable lashes that are a little bit more expensive up-front but can be worn up to 16 different times! When it comes to reusable fake lashes, we personally love synthetic silk. Synthetic silk is shiny, natural-looking, but still super durable and long-lasting with proper care. And when it comes to the band, we usually try to look for a flexible cotton band that can easily be cleaned and reapplied without losing its shape.

Apply Them Properly

Once you have your ideal reusable fake eyelashes, it’s time to achieve your dream look! It’s important to remember that the amount of use you’ll be able to get out of them starts with the very first application. This means not using too much glue that will be really hard to get off at the end of the day. This also means not applying mascara or other eye makeup products to the lashes. If you really feel like you need mascara, use a swipe or two before you apply your fake lashes — not after.

Remove Them Properly

The application of fake lashes is important, but the removal is even more so. The first key to removing fake lashes is to actually do it before you go to sleep no matter how tired you are! You should also never shower with them. So when you go to pull them off, make sure that you aren’t tugging too hard or pulling on the lashes themselves — try to get a hold of the band and pull outwards from there. We find that it’s usually easiest to start with the middle of your eye, get a good grip, and focus on the ends.

Clean Them Properly

While you don’t necessarily need to clean your lashes after each use, it can be a great way to keep them in tip-top shape! All you need to do is soak them for a few minutes in some warm water with a bit of gentle soap added to the mix. Whatever you do, do not brush or scrub your lashes or you will end up damaging them.

Store Them Properly

Finally, you need to store your fake lashes properly until you’re ready to wear them again. It’s super convenient to just use the original box that they came in — so make sure to keep this and don’t throw it out. That way, your lashes stay clean, safe, and dry.

With a little bit of care and vigilance on your end, you can get tons of wear out of reusable fake lashes and really maximize the money that you spend on this amazing beauty product. Just a few extra minutes can save you more than a few dollars!
