How to Keep Ants Out of Your Home with Mama Mila’s Two-Ingredient Kitchen Cleaner You Can Make Yourself

A DIY guru has shared the recipe for her homemade spray that keeps ants out of the house.

Chantel Ibbotson, what’s up Mom Mila online, uses a mixture of vinegar, water and lemon to not only deter ants but also keep your kitchen sparkling clean.

Add lemon or orange peels to a glass jar and cover it with one or two cups of white vinegar and then leave it for two weeks.

After two weeks, the citrus will have infused, so Chantel adds the mixture to a spray bottle with equal parts water.

The Melbourne mother recommends using the spray on windows and cracks in the house to prevent ants from entering.

He said the limonene from lemon and orange peels and the smell of white vinegar deter pesky insects.

Chantel said the spray also works as an effective all-purpose cleaner that she uses throughout the kitchen and bathroom on non-porous surfaces.

The queen of cleaning and organization shared the trick in an online video that captivated her 2.6 million followers.

‘Thank you! The ants have almost driven me crazy. “It’s been a long, hot, dry summer here,” one woman said.

‘I need to try this. We have ants everywhere,” wrote another.

Others shared their handy tricks for keeping ants at bay, including one viewer who said they used peppermint oil on cotton balls.

“I was skeptical, but now we don’t have ants in our pantry,” she said.

‘Fun fact: don’t *finish* them where you find them, by crushing them. “He releases a fragrance that attracts the rest of the colony to come and carry his body back to base…in turn, he brings more of them,” another explained.

‘A simpler way is bay leaves. The ants hate them. Find their entrance, put bay leaves there and they won’t come back,” added a third.
