- iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro owners say their batteries are draining fast
- Users suggest a number of reasons, including overheating or MagSafe charging
It’s been less than a year since Apple released the iPhone 14, but it seems that owners are already having problems with their smartphones.
Several iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro owners have taken to social media to complain that their batteries are draining unexpectedly fast.
One user posted a screenshot of his battery status, showing a maximum capacity of just 89 percent.
This is despite Apple’s claim that its batteries should “retain up to 80 percent of their original capacity at 500 full charge cycles when operating under normal conditions.”
Here’s what to do if you have one of the affected models and have noticed that your battery is dying.

Several confused users have taken to Twitter this week to discuss battery drain.
“iPhone 14 pro max battery is degrading faster than a piece of melted butter,” one user tweeted.
‘I received the phone in November last year. 89% in just 9 months. This is definitely not normal. I’ve had almost every iPhone since the iPhone 6 and this is the worst I’ve ever seen.
Another added: ‘Another percentage dropped on my iPhone 14 Pro which is 3% in a week.
‘However, my charging habits haven’t changed or anything. So annoying that I think it’s a signal to sell.
And one quipped: ‘My iPhone 14 Pro Max is now useless at 91% battery life. I guess it’s time to buy a new one. Maybe next month…’
While the reason for the problem remains unclear, users have put forward various theories, including the MagSafe charging or overheating.
‘Convinced that using MagSafe charging has fried my iPhone 14 Pro battery. Losing 10% capacity in less than a year… not normal,’ suggested one user.
Another added: “Either the iPhone 14 Pro has an overheating issue or the battery has a longevity issue, or both.”

One user was so irritated that he said the problem was a “sign to sell” his iPhone 14 Pro
Meanwhile, Wall Street Journal senior personal technology columnist Joanna Stern suggests there could be another problem at play.
In its Newslettershe wrote: ‘Did the always-on display, which is new to these iPhone Pro models and I kept for the first half of the year, cause capacity to drop faster?
‘Does the phone not cool or dissipate heat as well as other models? Maybe it’s the fact that I run the beta software?’
MailOnline has contacted Apple for comment.
If you’re experiencing this issue, there are several things you can do to optimize battery performance.
Apple recommends updating to the latest software, dimming the screen brightness, and using Wi-Fi when available.
Alternatively, you can set your iPhone to low power mode.
“Low Power Mode reduces screen brightness, optimizes device performance, and minimizes system animations,” Apple explained.
Apps, including Mail, won’t download content in the background, and features like AirDrop, iCloud sync, and Continuity will be disabled.
‘You can still use key features like making and receiving phone calls, email and messages, accessing the Internet, and more.
“And when your phone recharges, Low Power Mode automatically turns off.”
