Coles has announced a massive instant savings scheme in a bid to help struggling Australians, allowing shoppers to instantly get $10 off their next store.
Flybuys members nationwide will be able to redeem their $10 discount if they have at least 2,000 Flybuys points in their account, and the discount will apply to Coles supermarkets, Liquorland and First Choice Market stores.
Profit margins at major supermarkets came under scrutiny in a recent Senate inquiry, in which Coles and Woolworths were accused of price gouging during a cost of living crisis.
The research examined the impact of market concentration on food prices and the pattern of pricing strategies employed by the supermarket “duopoly” of Coles and Woolworths.
In a bid to improve its image, and following a trial in selected states, Coles’ program will now be rolled out nationwide.

The conditions for Australians to get their hands on this include having to spend a minimum of $10 in a store, and it can only be redeemed once a day at each of the three stores: Coles, Liquorland and First Choice Market.
So if a member has 6,000 points, they can redeem $10 once at Coles and once at both liquor stores.
Amanda McVay, Coles customer director, said this was the supermarket’s way of helping keep customers within their budgets.
“We know that getting the most out of your weekly shop through Flybuys is important to our customers,” he said.
‘We’re excited to now offer a $10 instant discount for in-store purchases… to give you an easier way to redeem points at checkout.
“Millions of Flybuys members currently have balances of over 2,000 points and we are making it easier than ever for them to redeem these points for money in their stores.”
Current Flybuys members can scan their cards to earn points in-store at Coles, Coles Express, First Choice Liquor Market, Kmart, Liquorland, Officeworks, Target and mycar.
When a person reaches 2,000, they can convert those points into Flybuys dollars to use at checkout.
What makes this different is that you won’t need to convert them to dollars, but rather they can be redeemed immediately.
10 bonus points will be earned on all ground beef (pictured) and 10 points on a select range of grocery items until June 25.
Those who do not have the required 2,000 points and are afraid of losing them can rest easy, as the supermarket offers bonus points on selected items.
From today until June 11, 10 bonus points will be earned on all mince and 10 points on a selected range of grocery items until June 25.
With cold and flu season in full swing, anyone suffering from colds can claim 5x points on cold and flu products such as Panadol, Nurofen, Betadine, Vicks, Difflam, Swisse and Cenovis.
The special will be valid until July 23.
