The Matildas have overtaken some of the highest-earning sportswomen in the luxury category by travelling to the 2024 Olympics in France on a private jet.

On Friday night, Australia’s most beloved sports team flew from Spain to Marseille on a private jet paid for by Football Australia.

The Matildas, who have yet to win a medal at an Olympic Games, were the only Australian team to travel to the Games in this way.

Unfortunately for the Matildas, their plans failed when their luggage was abandoned in Spain.

The U.S. team, whose combined annual salary totals nearly $1 billion, arrived in Paris on a train from London with regular passengers.

The four-time defending gold medalists drew a crowd of fans as they arrived at the train station and waited for a team bus to pick them up.

The big news after their first training session in Paris was that Suns superstar Kevin Durant practiced.

“We had a really good 45 minutes, going up and down,” U.S. coach Steve Kerr said.

“There were no practice matches, but there was a lot of running and throwing. And then there was also some preparation for Serbia.”

Meanwhile, the Matildas’ luggage problem meant they had to postpone a photo shoot earlier in the week that had been previously planned with the world’s press.

The head of the Australian Olympic team said the problem would be resolved soon.

‘It didn’t affect his preparation or his competition at all.

“And this will be corrected at this stage.”

Meares said the decision to fly Australian superstars on private rather than commercial planes was Football Australia’s.

“That’s a decision for Football Australia,” Meares said.

‘They felt it was the best high-performance model they could make to bring them from Spain to Marseille.

“That’s the norm for them now. And it’s working normally in an abnormal environment like the Olympics.”
