A New York City woman used her last breath to reveal the name of the person she claims stabbed her, police say.

Shirley Rodriguez, 29, was waiting for an Uber to take her to work Monday morning when she was attacked outside her family’s apartment on Haven Avenue, near West 172nd Street.

While she was being cut, she rang the building’s doorbell and was able to contact her family for help.

Her father, Henry Rodríguez, ran and could hear his daughter’s last words, he reported. PIX11.

“She was fighting the whole time. As she lies dying, she says (to Henry), “Ty did this,” said NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny.

Shirley was referring to her ex-boyfriend, Tyquane Jemmott, 33, whom she had broken up with the previous week after two years of dating.

Police said Jemmott allegedly waited between two cars outside the apartment until she left for work before attacking her.

The brutal attack, which was caught on video, lasted a minute, and Shirley was cut, beaten and dragged, leaving a trail of blood across the building and parked car.

Shirley's sister Tibby said she was not surprised to hear her sister say it was Jemmott and that the couple's relationship was difficult.

‘She was asking for help. She said, “Dad, dad, hurry up. Come down the stairs,” Henry said. The New York Daily News.

“So I put something on and went downstairs with a kitchen knife because obviously something was going on. I ran down the stairs and it was just a bloody scene. And my daughter was standing there with a big cut on her face.

‘My instinct was to chase him, but I couldn’t leave her alone. She was bleeding. He had left. Someone else chased him,” she said.

Jemmott was arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the fatal stabbing.

Shirley’s sister Tibby said she was not surprised to hear her sister say it was Jemmott and that the couple’s relationship was difficult.

“He didn’t give her space and didn’t respect the boundaries she was setting,” Tibby said.

‘One of her latest fallouts was when she posted a baby photo on her Instagram story and he accused her of having a new follower. And she got fed up and blocked him. She then started texting him. He would follow up.
