Gwyneth Paltrow won her skiing accident trial tonight after a week of fashionable appearances in the courtroom as she used her “hidden fortune” succession tactic.
The actress has been sued for $300,000 by 76-year-old retired physician Terry Sanderson who claims she left him with permanent brain damage when she allegedly ‘rammed’ him in 2016 in Deer Valley.
But a jury in Park City, Utah, found Sanderson 100 percent at fault after the 50-year-old actress contested a token payment of $1 and attorney fees.
Now as the legal victory over her fades away, it appears Paltrow deliberately chose a natural, neutral wardrobe in an effort to win over the jury in the blockbuster case.

Day 3: The actress wore a Goop Bennett Belted Crewneck Cardigan, $595, and an oversized Foundrae Mixed Buckle Chain with Engravable Heart, $25,115.
The key to the “quiet luxury” look that HBO’s Roy Family successfully employed is investing in classic tailored pieces and avoiding ostentatious designer logos.
This creates a sleek, elevated look — and Paltrow seems to have taken this on board.
Throughout the trial, she opted for combos in a few colors like khaki, navy, tan, gray and white — but there was still a hefty price tag.
Could her stripped-down decisions have an impact on the proceedings?
FEMAIL spoke to Liz Tesch, who runs FEMAIL New York designerbefore making a judgment as to whether it might work in her favour.

FEMAIL spoke to Liz Teich (pictured), who runs The New York Stylist, about whether Paltrow’s fashion choices could work in her favor in the courtroom.

Speaking of how Paltrow has embraced “hidden wealth” and “quiet luxury” trends, Liz told FEMAIL, “Gwyneth has mastered the art of wearing luxury pieces, without ostentatious logos or mainstream designs.
She looks bundled up with understated, polished and minimal pieces, so she’s not so in your face, but we all notice how cute she looks.
“She could wear a $25,000 necklace and $1,500 Prada shoes, and unless you’re well-versed in fashion, you might not know it.”
Elaborating on the actress’ possible motives, she added: ‘I think for her the trial is about the principle of defending her reputation, not her losing money, so she’s likely to show that through her wardrobe.
She’s always been a minimalist, so it’s no surprise that she chose designers like The Row, the Olsen twin’s chic minimalist line known for their outrageous prices.
“Wearing their coat, which costs more than most people’s mortgage, is a natural for her.”
It seems likely that the decisions influenced the jury.
“I’m sure choosing simple designer pieces is a way to look relatable but put-together, and she’s not trying to show off her fame and wealth,” said Liz.
“Whether it works or not, the jury’s out on solidifying her style icon status!”
And speaking of how “hidden wealth” has spread, she told FEMAIL: “From the succession to the resurgence of minimalism in ’90s street style, we’re seeing more wealthy people choosing designers like Loro Piana, Brunello Cuccinelli, Zegna, The Row, MaxMara, and investing in Pieces that will hold value as trends come and go.
It’s like the “if you knew you know” gesture among the super-rich, with slogans now flashy and feeling cheap.
Major designers seem to be noticing more minimalist collections and pre-owned ’90s styles from sites like The Real Real seem to be in high demand right now.

Liz tells FEMAIL that Paltrow’s picks (pictured on Day 4) make her look “put together with upscale pieces that have been pared down, polished, and understated.”

Liz said Paltrow’s appearances in the courtroom (Day 8, left, and Day 9, right) ‘bolsters her style icon status’
Liz previously told FEMAIL where to start when it comes to achieving the “quiet luxury” look.
The best way to start your wardrobe, she said, is with “simply tailored pieces” mixed with “staples like skinny cardigans and turtlenecks, often in monochromatic tones.”
“My clients and Instagram followers always say the basics are ‘boring’ but when done well, they can look really loud.”
She added, “I always say invest in a great suit—it doesn’t have to be expensive—because you always look polished, even when paired with a T-shirt and sneakers, and they’re very versatile to mix and match with.”
“Everyone needs at least one high-quality sweater, because this is something you can pair with everything, especially throw it over any top for a zoom call.”
Much to the delight of her followers, during the legal proceedings, Liz shares updates on where people can snag Paltrow’s ensembles in order to recreate the look for less.
