Saltburn actor Barry Keoghan’s dramatic change in appearance has not gone unnoticed, with plastic surgeons revealing the range of subtle treatments that could explain his increasingly “ripped” appearance.
The 31-year-old, who will now join the cast of Netflix’s Peaky Blinders movie sequel, is known for his enviably chiseled jawline and cheekbones.
However, photographs taken less than five years ago show a rounder, less defined face shape.
Aesthetic experts have speculated that the Dublin native has likely undergone a series of procedures including cheek fat removal, Botox and jaw filler.
Plastic surgeons have noticed Saltburn actor Barry Keoghan’s dramatic change in appearance (pictured left in 2018). Experts say the 31-year-old has a defined jaw and a wrinkle-free forehead (pictured in 2024 on the right)
However, they also say that simple weight loss could also have helped exacerbate the change.
Although the Dubliner has neither confirmed nor denied undergoing aesthetic treatments, the plastic surgeon Dr. Fuat Yuksel suspects that she has been injected with Botox and filler.
“Looking at Barry’s face when he was younger, there seems to be hints of fine lines around the outer corners of his eyes,” said Dr. Yuksel, who works in London aesthetic treatment clinic Longevita and has more than 30 years of experience in the field.
But looking at it now, everything has smoothed out, which makes me think she got Botox for her crow’s feet.
“You might also get anti-wrinkle injections on your forehead as it looks very wrinkle-free at the moment.”
Although the Dubliner (pictured in 2023) has neither confirmed nor denied that he has undergone plastic surgery or any other cosmetic treatment, there is a strong possibility that the actor will receive Botox and fillers.
Experts say the actor, pictured here in 2018, received injections of botulinum toxin (often abbreviated to Botox), which works by relaxing the muscles in the face to smooth out lines and wrinkles.
Doctors and social media users also suggested that the actor, pictured here in 2019, may have used filler that adds volume to the face and can be used to define the chin and jowl area, creating a jawline. better defined.
He also draws attention to his jawline, stating that it now has a “perfect, defined shape, which wasn’t the case five years ago.”
“Previously, the edges of the jaw were not as sharp or projecting; in fact, they had a softer, rounder feel, suggesting the use of dermal filler,” he said.
Botulinum toxin (or Botox) works by relaxing the muscles of the face to soften lines and wrinkles.
But when injected into the masseter muscle (a rectangular muscle in the face used for chewing) it makes the jaw appear thinner.
Meanwhile, filler adds volume to the face and can be used to add defined lines around the chin and jowl area, creating a more defined jawline.
Dr Jonny Betteridge, a London-based cosmetic doctor, also identified some facial changes in the cheeks, jaw, chin and lips.
In the video that garnered 11.7k likes, Dr. Betteridge claims that in 2019 the actor had “an oval face shape, less pronounced cheekbones, a slanted jaw and smaller lips.”
A social media user @baileybotox, who has 11.3k followers on TikTok, shared a video showing before and after images of Keoghan’s face.
In the video, she suggests that she has had Botox applied to her forehead, filler and buccal fat removal, a procedure that involves removing fat from the cheeks.
In the caption, she said, “It looks like you’ve had targeted fat loss with buccal fat removal.” “His features are sharper now, especially his jawline, and that’s where I think his work is visible.”
He added: “Combining buccal fat removal with a filler that slims the jawline has given him a more masculine look for his villainous role.

However, he admits that the change in his face shape could also be due to weight loss.
He also suggested that Botox had caused her eyebrows to lose their “natural arch” and added that she may have had some “refinement to the tip of her nose.”

But four years later, in 2023, he appeared with “more cheek and jaw projection, a wider chin and larger, fuller lips.”
This has given Keoghan “a more angular and masculine look.”
