British Airways is introducing a status match offer, so frequent flyers on rival airlines such as Delta or United can gain access to its stylish lounges and other perks.

Premium members of eight loyalty programs can earn Gold or Silver status in the BA Executive Club for free through this offer.

This provides access to BA lounges, free additional luggage, priority check-in, security and boarding and a better chance of upgrades.

It also offers the same benefits when flying on more than a dozen other airlines that are part of the same Oneworld alliance as BA, including American, Alaska, Cathay Pacific, Quantas, Qatar and Fiji.

BA will match its status with three US and Canadian airline programs: Delta’s SkyMiles, United’s Mileage Plus and Air Canada’s Aeroplan.

Loyalty program members of five European airlines can also earn gold or silver: Virgin Atlantic, Air France, KLM, Luthansa and Scandinavian.

Please see the table below showing the eight airlines and the required status.

Offer is valid for new and existing BA Executive Club members who are members of one of the programs listed above with the relevant status.

Customers with premium status on all eight airlines can apply online.

They must provide valid proof of their frequent flyer status and the result of the application will be shared via email.
