How a trucker caused chaos in two states after leading police on an epic chase and crashing into police cars while being accused of stealing a bobcat

A truck driver has been accused of leading police on an epic multi-state chase following allegations he stole a bobcat.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested after a wild chase from Queensland to New South Wales that saw power lines down, police vehicles damaged and an officer injured on Thursday night.

At around 6pm, Queensland Police alerted New South Wales Police that a table truck, allegedly loaded with a stolen lynx, had entered New South Wales at Boggabilla and was heading south. along the Newell Highway.

They were informed that Queensland Police had followed the truck and that a 27-year-old police officer suffered minor injuries when his vehicle was allegedly hit in Millmerran.

New South Wales police attempted to stop the truck about 100 kilometers north of Moree in the state’s north, but the driver ignored their instructions and continued driving south, frequently crossing onto the wrong side of the highway.

Police say they placed spikes in the road that deflated one of the front tires, but the driver continued on the wrong side of the road for another 10 kilometers before crashing into a police vehicle, rendering it unusable.

He is alleged to have crashed into a power pole, breaking it and knocking down power lines, before continuing to evade police.

It is believed that the wildcat detached itself from the tray and was left behind.

The truck eventually stopped about 30 kilometers from Gurley, with the nearby front wheel touching the steel hub, where the driver was arrested.

He was taken to Moree District Hospital for mandatory testing, where he remained under surveillance before being transferred to the police station.

The man was charged with a series of offences, including negligent driving and receiving stolen property.

He was refused bail and will appear in court on Friday.

Police believe the lynx was stolen from the Boonah Showground in Queensland yesterday morning.
