A girl’s world has been rocked after a blister on her foot developed while on a family vacation turned out to be a horrifying disorder.
Bella Macey, 10, has been battling Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) in hospital, while her family desperately seeks treatment abroad.
CRPS is a rare neurological disorder that causes extreme discomfort and is known as one of the most painful incurable conditions in the world.
The debilitating condition has caused the Melbourne youngster to lose movement in her leg and experience excruciating pain for over a month.

Bella’s blister soon turned into an infection as Bella began to experience excruciating pain in her leg.
His little infection first appeared while he was at the beach with his family during a holiday in Fiji.
But the blister soon became agonizing and his whole leg began to ache.
Upon returning home to Melbourne, she was rushed to the Alfred’s emergency room for treatment.
The doctors did X-rays, ultrasounds, and blood tests, but they couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong.
Meanwhile, Bella was given strong antibiotics, which proved to have little to no effect in relieving her pain.
After her original infection cleared and the pain persisted, Bella was diagnosed with the disorder.
CRPS usually affects only one arm or leg after a previous injury, such as a fracture or sprain without nerve damage, or nerve damage to an extremity.
It’s not clear what exactly causes CRPS, but it’s thought it could be because the nerves in the affected area become more sensitive, which can change pain pathways between the limb and the brain.

With no effective treatment available in Australia, Bella’s parents, Chris and Emma, sought treatment options abroad.
Since her diagnosis, Bella is mostly bedridden and has lost movement in her leg. She sometimes needs a wheelchair to get around.
The pain in his leg is so intense that he has also developed hypersensitivity, meaning that a mere touch can be agonizing.
It has also caused extreme stress and pressure on the family.
Despite being on strong medication every day during their month-long hospital stay, nothing has helped alleviate the girls’ pain.
With no effective treatment available in Australia, his parents, Chris and Emma, sought treatment options abroad.
Through extensive research, they found the Spero Clinic in the US, which specializes in CRPS.
Since then, Emma has established a GoFundMe Page to raise funds to send Bella to the clinic for treatment and medical expenses.
“Bella has been in hospital for 4 weeks and unfortunately there is no treatment available for her at the RCH or elsewhere in Australia that addresses the cause of the pain,” he wrote.
She has been on intense medications, none of which have worked and we are desperate to send her to a clinic abroad that is specialized (sic) and credentialed in providing referral to their patients.
‘This is where your generosity becomes a lifeline for Bella.’
