Joe Mixon is questionable for the Houston Texans ahead of Saturday's game against the Chiefs

The Houston Texans head to Kansas City this weekend with concerns about star running back Joe Mixon after he was listed as questionable for Thursday’s game.

The Texans will walk into the lion’s den on Saturday as they try to end the Chiefs’ hopes of an unprecedented three-peat Super Bowl at Arrowhead Stadium.

But Mixon did not practice with his team on Thursday due to an ankle issue, with the team labeling him questionable for the game.

Azeez Al-Shaair is also doubtful and has been limited in practice with a knee problem.

The Texans are also without key wide receiver Tank Dell, who suffered such a serious knee injury during the regular season against Arrowhead in December that he will miss the entire 2025 season.

Dell underwent the first of what is expected to be several surgeries earlier this week to repair his knee in what will be a lengthy comeback journey.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are near full health after a bye week after securing the AFC’s No. 1 seed.

Jaylen Watson was listed as questionable on Thursday with an ankle injury and Mecole Hardman is also questionable with a knee injury.

But otherwise, the Chiefs appear to be heading in the right direction as they step up their bid for a third straight Super Bowl title.

The winner of Texans vs Chiefs will meet whoever emerges victorious from the weekend’s standout matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills for a spot in the Super Bowl.

In the NFC, the Washington Commanders travel to Detroit to play the Lions.

Elsewhere, the Philadelphia Eagles host the Los Angeles Rams in a match that could be affected by snow.
