Houssem Aouar wants a move to Arsenal
After signing Willian, Gabriel Magalhaes, Pablo Mari, and Cedric Soares this summer transfer window, Premier League giants Arsenal are still not satisfied as they are keen on bringing in more players to strengthen up their team for this campaign.
The Gunners have already set their sights on Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, and according to the reports making rounds in the media, the midfielder has agreed to join the English club, who have made an official bid worth £32 million to Ligue 1 giants Lyon, while the free lotto on Sky Bet offered interesting odds regarding this transfer.
The North London club boss, Mikel Arteta, has been looking to strengthen up his team before the closure of the summer transfer window on October 5th with the Lyon midfielder being one of his top targets alongside Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey.
In the early of the star being linked to Emirates Stadium, Lyon director Juninho officially confirmed to the media of the negotiations being held between them and the English outfit over the potential transfer move for Aouar but are no agreeing on the idea of Matteo Guendouzi being included in the deal.
Now according to the report coming from French outlet Telefoot La Chaine, the 22-year-old midfielder is keen on joining the Gunners this summer and this claim was made right after Italian journalist Nicolo Schira reported that personal terms of a five-year deal had been agreed between the player and the English club.
With that in mind, all the North London club have to worry about will be agreeing on a transfer fee with the French club Lyon. And according to ESPN, the Gunners have submitted a new official offer to be worth £35 million to the French club.
While there has been a report of Lyon reducing their asking price of £55 million, the French giants still want any suitors’ offer to be in the range of £36m-£41m. This directly means the Gunners will have to do better should they hope to sign the France international this summer transfer window.
As Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas made it publicly known that the Gunner have yet to meet with their demands, ESPN claims that the North London club are willing to go back and return with an improved offer for the 22-year-old in a few days.
The report further claims that Aouar is keen on moving to Emirates Stadium also for a reunion with his former teammate Alexandre Lacazette, who played with the former during his time at Lyon.
To ensure the Gunners return with an improved bid for the Frenchman, Arteta might just be advised to offload some players in his team this summer as midfielder Lucas Torreira has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, while Guendouzi has been linked to Serie A Torino. Sead Kolasinac, Shkodran Mustafi, and Sokratis are also linked with a move away from the English club.
Should a deal go through, Auoar will be a great addition to the Arteta team as he had formerly been tagged as one of the most exciting young players in Europe, he is also one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1. He is known for his playmaking abilities.
Aouar was instrumental for the Lyon as they were able to make it to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League last campaign.
