“I use dish soap in the laundry,” a mother offered.

‘Hang them outside in the freezing cold, my mother used to say, but you’ll have to wait a while for them,’ said a woman.

“A bottle of Sprite or lemonade mixed with a bucket of water. leave your white sheet in it overnight and then wash it as normal. I usually do it with all white clothes and they look like new,” said one mother.

“By soaking them in Nappysan and hot water every second wash,” said another.

One woman said it takes years for white sheets to discolor.

The woman who claims to have always had white sheets and bedding swears by “Napisan and detergent” and says quality counts.

“It’s worth paying for sheets, after all, you spend 1/3 of your life in between.”

Others agreed that ‘whitewashing only with white’ was important.

While some suggested that “stripping wash” every few months would take care of it.

“Add washing powder, borax and washing liquid to a bucket and let it soak overnight,” one woman said before adding the sheets and washing them afterwards.

Some people replied with jokes.

“Never use them,” one woman said.

“When you make the bed make sure you make a second bed with much darker linen and then sleep in that bed,” wrote another.

But some said they think white bedding is the easiest to care for.

‘I think it’s easier to clean than other colors. I always soak ‘Vanish for whites’ in a bucket for an hour or so before I wash it, every time I use them the covers and sheets always come out like new,” said one mom.

Other tips included washing in warm water, washing weekly, using bi-carb and vinegar in the laundry, and hanging in the shade.
