House Passes Parents’ Bill of Rights After AOC Called It ‘Fascist’ and Schumer Called It ‘Orwellian to the Core’: Five Republicans Join All Democrats in Voting No

The House voted to pass her Parents’ Bill of Rights Friday with zero Democratic votes after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called her a “fascist.”
Additionally, five Republicans voted no on the bill: Reps. Matt Rosendale, Mont., Ken. Buck, Colo., Matt Gaetz, Fla., Andy Biggs, Ariz., and Mike Lawler, NY The bill passed 213-208.
Four of the GOP’s ‘no’ votes were members of the Freedom Caucus against McCarthy and one, Lawler, represents a district that President Biden won by 10 points.
Biggs told DailyMail.com that he voted against the bill because it “violates the principles of federalism and the federal government is already too involved in education.”
Speaker Kevin McCarthy criticized the Democrats as an “extreme minority party” for voting against the education bill.

It would amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to require schools to provide a list of books available in their children’s library and to publish the curriculum.
The legislation also emphasizes the rights of parents to have their voices heard at school board meetings and to be aware of violent activities in schools. It would require schools to publicly disclose budgets and spending.
Requires parental consent before health screenings at school, including ‘mental health or substance use disorder screenings’.
Parental rights have been thrown at the forefront of conservative politics since the COVID school closures. He was instrumental in Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin’s successful campaign against Democrat Terry McAuliffe in 2021.
