Some of the more unusual items have been catalogued by Hotels.com as part of its annual ‘Innsights’ report.

The usual suspects in the “forgotten items” category include things you might expect, like dirty clothes, phone chargers, makeup and toiletries, but it’s the more out-of-the-ordinary items that catch the eye.

They include some really expensive personal items, such as Rolex watches and a Birkin bag, which can cost anywhere from $12,000 to a staggering $200,000.

Other surprising items left behind by visitors include a pet lizard and a chick. Both were found and returned to their owners.

While leaving a phone charger behind may be commonplace, one guest managed to leave two leg casts behind, while a surprising 10 percent of hotels reported that guests had forgotten their dentures.

Among the most inexplicable items left behind were a rice cooker, a car tire, a blender and even some construction pipes, all of which were left behind by guests at more than 400 hotels surveyed around the world.

Other unusual items left in the room included the keys to a luxury car along with the vehicle’s ownership documents.

Hotel staff often find wads of cash left in the hotel safe, but other priceless items have also been found there, including a tooth and even an engagement ring.

‘In Hotels.com “We know hotels inside and out – we have it in our heads,” said Melanie Fish, the site’s vice president of global public relations.

“By asking hotels to reveal the secrets behind their most memorable stays, we discovered that these ‘landmarks’ have actually inspired the amenities available to guests today,” Fish said.

‘From guitar-playing concierges to pet healers, hotels are catering to the unique demands of travelers, which could very well become the norm.’

In addition to the lost and found container, the report also details some of the more unusual room service requests made by guests.

These include a request for four pounds of bananas, a bathtub full of Evian water for a pampered young guest, some burnt toast and a hot dog covered in caviar.
