A 27-year-old man died in Waterloo Corner early Sunday morning.

South Australia experienced a Sunday of horror on the roads, with two men dying in separate crashes.

The massacre began early on Sunday morning at around 3.45am, with police and emergency services called to the Port Wakefield Highway at Waterloo Corner, north of Adelaide, following reports that a car had crashed into a lamp post and then against a tree.

A 27-year-old man from Elizabeth North died in the crash, police said, and Major Crash investigators closed the highway for several hours.

The man’s death marked the 67th life lost on South Australian roads in 2024.

Then later, at Balhannah in the Adelaide Hills, a man on a motorcycle crashed at the intersection of Kerr Road and Beaumont Road about 1 p.m.

The 48-year-old man from Greenhill died at the scene, police said, making his death the 68th lost on the roads so far.
