Horror boat crash on Sydney Harbour leaves one man dead

A man in his 50s died after a two-boat collision at Darling Point in Sydney Harbor at 6.30pm on Friday.

A man has died after two ships collided in Sydney Harbour.

Emergency services were called to New Beach Road in Darling Point, Sydney, after two boats collided at 6.30pm on Friday.

A man in his 50s, who has not yet been formally identified, suffered a serious chest injury in the crash and died at the scene.

Officers attached to the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were assisted by members of the Marine Area Command that went to the scene.

Ambulances were seen parked at Australia’s Cruising Yacht Club as police spoke to witnesses and bystanders after the crash.

The skippers of both boats involved in the accident will be subject to mandatory testing and both vessels have been seized for mechanical examination.

Investigations into the incident have begun.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
