A South Sydney Rabbitohs young gun has reportedly been rushed to hospital after collapsing during training.

Leon Te Hau, 21, remains in hospital and is undergoing tests after becoming physically ill and fainting during a training session at Heffron Park, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Club officials quickly called an ambulance and the Queensland under-18 representative was taken to hospital.

Te Hau is seen as a big talent at the Rabbitohs, although he is yet to play a first grade game.

The same outlet reports that the Bunnies hope the 21-year-old is fine.

The focus is on Souths after a horror start to the season has seen pressure mount on football coach Jason Demetriou.

The club has only won one game so far and reports have suggested that Demetriou could be sacked and replaced by former mentor Wayne Bennett.

However, star defender Cody Walker has insisted that all players continue to strive for Demetriou.

“We always try to go out and fight for the jersey and fight for the coach,” Walker said.

“We have enormous respect for JD and the great work he does. We wanted to show it tonight.” I thought we did that.

“The score probably doesn’t reflect how close the game was. But you can see the effort and the energy and it all happened.”
